Aseniwuche Winewak Nation partnership with Matrix Solutions for environmental services

It is with pride that Aseniwuche Winewak Nation (AWN) and Matrix Solutions Inc. (Matrix) announce our formal partnership. With a mutually beneficial relationship in place since 2011, this partnership builds on our existing experience working together to provide environmental services within the Traditional Land Use Area of the Aseniwuche Winewak Nation.

Over the past nine years, Matrix and AWN have worked together on projects sharing knowledge and skilled field personnel to deliver successful environmental solutions. Our alliance brings together local, scientific and traditional resources to help our communities and clients meet their environmental objectives. Our relationship creates the opportunity for mentorship, training and capacity-building for both workforces in environmental science and traditional knowledge.

Matrix and AWN collaborate to provide environmental services including:

  • Environmental and Social Impact Assessments and Audits
  • Environmental Management, Planning and Regulatory Compliance
  • Environmental Site Assessments, Remediation, Reclamation and Spills
  • Environmental Monitoring Hydrology and Hydrotechnical Engineering
  • Water Resource Assessment and Management

Matrix and AWN have formed this partnership in the spirit of cooperation, honesty, trust and understanding. Fostered and developed under mutual respect for each other’s values and cultures, the goal of the relationship is to secure opportunities that benefit both AWN and Matrix, while promoting environmental stewardship.

About Aseniwuche Winewak Nation

Aseniwuche Winewak Nation (AWN) is a provincially incorporated not-for-profit society representing seven Indigenous communities in Grande Cache, Alberta. Formed in 1994, AWN represents 350+ members who share a unique history and ancestry as descendants of various Indigenous groups, including Sekani, Dene-saa and Iroquois. AWN is a distinct Indigenous group with unique needs. Unlike Treaty First Nations, AWN is not recognized as having First Nations or Metis rights by the government. Often overlooked politically, our organization relies heavily on industry partnerships and limited opportunities for federal and provincial funding to support our members and promote our unique history, culture, language and traditions. In 1998 and 2011, Aseniwuche Development Corporation and Aseniwuche Environmental Corporation were formed respectively. AWN hopes to continue to foster important relationships with industry and partners so we can continue to do our important work sharing knowledge of traditional land use, culture and traditions.
