ATCO Electric was developing a new transmission line and substation in northern Alberta. Located approximately 100 km southwest of Grande Prairie, Alberta.
As the regulatory body, the Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC) required our client to complete a transmission line facility application including the completion of an environmental evaluation before work could begin.
Matrix was commissioned to complete an environmental evaluation for a proposed transmission line route and substation site. The environmental evaluation assessed the types and presence of soils, vegetation, wetlands, and wildlife along the proposed powerline right of way. The field assessments also included amphibian audible surveys and aerial raptor stick nest surveys.
A final report summarized field observations and became a component of our client’s AUC facility application.
Post filing the application, the AUC issued a number of information requests, which Matrix assisted our client to address.
Matrix knowledge and experience helped our client to obtain a permit and license to build and operate this new transmission line and substation.
