Over 25 Years of Experience
Matrix has grown and evolved through a series of corporate mergers that were based on common goals and similar corporate culture. For over 25 years, Matrix and its predecessor companies have been developing and maintaining long-lasting relationships. Our long history and strategic expansion into new locations and new services has proven that our business model is both stable and sustainable. Many of the professionals who worked for our predecessors continue to work with us today, and we’re proud of our ability to retain these staff and bring the combined team experience to new projects.

1984-2001
Our roots go back to 1984 when Jim Lore founded a consulting company providing land assessment and reclamation consulting services to the agricultural and energy sectors. J. Lore and Associates was renamed 3D Reclamation in 1996 as our focus broadened to include soil contaminant assessments for the oil and gas industry.
In 1993, Groundwater Solutions was founded by James Freeman and Kaush Rahkit to assist industry and government clients in groundwater contamination and hydrogeology.
In 1998, the two companies merged to become Matrix Solutions Inc., combining our strengths in soil and groundwater assessments to provide our clients with more comprehensive services.
2002-2008
In 2002, E2 Environmental Alliance joined the team, adding expertise in environmental impact management and assessment, and experience in international projects. Hydroconsult EN3 joined Matrix in 2005, further enhancing our capacity with expertise in river engineering and other surface water disciplines.
2009-2012
In 2009 Odyssey Environmental Ltd. merged with Matrix, broadening Matrix’s capacity for site assessment, remediation and reclamation projects throughout Saskatchewan and Manitoba. December 2011 saw the merger of Waterloo-based AquaResource Inc. with Matrix, combining the leading-edge water resource management, environmental and engineering services of the two firms, and further expanding Matrix Solution’s presence across the country and internationally.
Over the past two years, Matrix has continued to broaden our services to clients as we bring on senior professionals in the areas of historical and air quality assessments, research and testing services, and assessments of groundwater and surface water interactions.
